The Creation of AWKN1
Anne-Marie Le Flanchec, Founder and Designer of AWKN1, has held a lifelong interest and gravitation toward fine art and spirituality. Raised in Paris surrounded by inspiring and rich French culture, she pursued her passions in the areas of art history, interior design, and jewelry design; being involved in the jewelry industry for 25 years. Anne-Marie’s engagement in the practice of Tibetan Buddhism has also been the source of her inspirations in creating the AWKN1 brand. Today, Anne-Marie likes to share her time between Paris, Los Angeles and Thailand, a playground for her inspirations.
Born from the union of two passions, AWKN1 is the child of beauty and wisdom. Inspired by the universal principle of wisdom, AWKN1 offers unique collections of fine jewelry with a devotion to luxury craftsmanship. The designs are contemporary and elegant, yet sometimes edgy and provoking. With their own clear conviction, AWKN1 jewelry collections exposes meaning and purpose, and honors the essence and potential of the human spirit. AWKN1 believes in dreaming the world into a wiser and kinder reality, and sharing its intrinsic beauty as far and wide as possible.
The Meaning Behind the AWKN1 Brand
AWKN1 is an abbreviation for ‘The Awakened One,’ which refers to Shakyamuni Buddha’s enlightenment or liberation. The Buddha realized that our 3D reality is tainted or stained by our emotional and mental projections, wrong assumptions and societal conditioning. The Awakened One has purified mental filters allowing one to witness the true nature of reality as fluid; being in a non-dual, interconnected, non-conditional relationship with others, the natural world and the mystery of existence.
Anne-Marie has chosen the brand name AWKN1, based upon the universal state of being beyond any religious identification. It is a state of pure presence and openness available to all. It is for those who are looking outside the box in terms of creativity and aesthetic, who are ready to embrace a new symbolism imbued with a special loving energy and deeper meaning; to affirm accordingly their conviction and belief into the world. The AWKN1 jewelry collections combine the elegance of Parisian lifestyle, the edge and the glitter of Los Angeles, and the renowned meticulous craftsmanship of Thai Art.
A Sacred Name and a Modern Talisman
The name AWKN1 arises from the idea of a special hidden power or energy of the word to awaken one the truth of one’s magical power within them. It has a devotional quality to it, with a nod to the Sanskrit “twilight language,” which is a language contained within specific Buddhist traditions that is only able to be translated and understood by those who are initiated into it.
The word AWKN1 may be repeated as an empowerment to oneself and the larger essence of life, in the form of repetition of a mantra, or a chant. It implies reverence, devotion, and a potency of energy. AWKN1 is a modern word to be shared, to be known by those who share it.
AWKN1 jewelry holds this quality of becoming a special talisman to the wearer, presenting beauty with a depth of intention. The fine craftsmanship and meaningful designs contains a specific energy that awakens and swirls, magnetising to those it is meant for; the brand is
drawn to you as much as you are drawn towards it.
AWKN1 uses two sophisticated engraving techniques to create intricate signature patterns called the “Guilloché” and “Flinking.” This affirms a recognizable trademark that is the heart of the AWKN1 brand. The Guilloché technique has historically been used in decorative art among the wealthiest Royal Courts of Europe in the 18th Century. The renowned Peter Karl Fabergé employed the Guilloché and Flinking ornamental engraving to decorate his masterpieces of Imperial Eggs and the Crown Jewels of the Russian Royal Court.
